Join us for a fun and informative evening in the Bullock Room on Fat Tuesday for an Absinthe Celebration! We’ll be feeling frisky, fat, and French as we observe and enjoy the results of the traditional absinthe “La Louche” ritual using an absinthe fountain. Also included are traditional Absinthe cocktails and New Orleans Absinthe inspired appetizers.
Special guest presenter Judy Bronson, who sits on the advisory board of the Wormwood Society, will be on hand to guide us through the subtleties of Absinthe tasting, the ritual of the Absinthe fountain, and school us on all things Absinthe. When asked about the impact that the Wormwood Society has had on her life, she reveals, “This diverse group of individuals has taught me so much about absinthe, but more than that, some of them have become lifelong friends and trusted confidants that I never would have met were it not for this forum.”
A portion of the proceeds of this event will benefit the Adopt-A-Student Scholarship Fund of Bishop DuBourg High School. In 1812, Father Louis Guillame Valentin DuBourg was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Louisiana, which at the time included the whole of Thomas Jefferson’s Louisiana Purchase. The eventual Bishop DuBourg alternately governed his diocese from New Orleans and St. Louis.
